3rd Article of Faith
We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
7-year old Mikey is spending part of the week up at Grandma’s house. As a result, I decided not to go ahead with the 7th Article of Faith that we were scheduled to do. It seems like the kids are having trouble with the 3rd Article of Faith, so it seemed like a good day to review. We sang an opening song, which Hannah picked. We practiced the 1st Article of Faith, the 2nd Article of Faith (Josh‘s favorite), the 4th Article of Faith, the 5th Article of Faith, and the 6th Article of Faith.
Next, I proceeded told them the 3rd Article of Faith. I asked if they remembered the lesson from a few weeks ago when we first did the 3rd Article of Faith. At first neither kid did, but as I explained it, they remember. We practiced the 3rd Article of Faith several times. I then had the kids come sit on my lap. (Josh will be going into Kindergarten in a fall and just finished a 3-week summer school. He is very interested in math right now). I had a little white board. I used the marker and wrote 2 + 2 = 5. As I was writing it, I told the kids that sometimes in our life we can make mistakes. When we do, what can we do. Josh said “repent”. I said told him that was correct. I asked him if 2 + 2 equals 5. He said that is such an easy question and that 2 + 2 = 4. I told him that just like on this white board, I can take an eraser and remove the mistake, in our life, we can remove the mistakes we make, by having faith in Christ and repenting. And, because of the Atonement, I continued, we are able to forgiven of our sins. We did several other math problems, then Josh took the white board and wrote a bunch of questions with the right answers. We then sang a closing song, which Josh picked.
