We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
As is our weekly tradition, we started family home evening by having the kids recite the 1st Article of Faith, the 2nd Article of Faith, the 3rd Article of Faith, the 4th Article of Faith, and the 5th Article of Faith, with varying degrees of success. I then asked them what the full name of our Church is. “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints” came back the response from both Mikey & Josh. I told them I wanted to break the name up. “The Church of Jesus Christ“. What does this mean? We discussed how it is The Church of Jesus Christ because Jesus Christ started the Church and is the head of the Church. “Of Latter-day Saints’ is to distinguish it from the Church that the Savior started during His life. We talked very briefly about the Great Apostasy, and I told them we would talk about that more in the future.
With all this background completed, Amanda was able to recite the 6th Article of Faith from memory. We talked about the priesthood offices mentioned. We then got on the ground and used wood blocks and “built” the Church with these priesthood offices. The kids each built a Church also. We practiced the 6th Article of Faith a few times and sang the 6th Article of Faith Primary Song.
