We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
We started this week by having the kids recite the 1st Article of Faith, the 2nd Article of Faith, the 3rd Article of Faith, and the 4th Article of Faith. None of them (nor The Wife) could remember the 3rd Article of Faith, without me helping them start it. Guess we will need to do that one again. I then read the 5th Article of Faith to them and then we all practiced it a few times. I then passed out a [download#42#nohits] and had each of the kids color it. After they were done (or at least partially done) coloring, we talked about the 5th Article of Faith and what it means. I asked them, for example, do you think that our Bishop decided one day to be the Bishop. All the kids said no. I explained that the Stake President, after praying about it, called and set him apart to be Bishop. I asked them if they think Mommy just one day decided to become the Primary Music leader. No, the Bishop, after praying about it, called and set her apart.
We then played a game called “Bishop Says” (Simon Says). After me being “the Bishop” for a while, 5-year old Josh wanted to be Bishop. One of the times, he said “Bishop says Have a Pillow Fight”. Finally, the kids then turned their coloring pages over and wrote a letter to the Bishop (well, at least MIkey did; Amanda wrote one from Josh and I wrote one from Hannah) to the Bishop thanking him for being our Bishop. I addressed an envelope and we took it outside and put it in the outgoing mail.
(Thanks Sugardoodle for the idea)
