On Saturday (24 May 08), President Thomas S. Monson, President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, announced a new Temple to be built in Phoenix, Arizona. This is in addition to the two temples annouced for Arizona last month, 1 in Gila Valley, and 1 in Gilbert. This will put 3 Temples in the Phoenix metro area. I believe that this will be the first metro area outside of Utah that will have more than 1 Temple.

Maybe it’s just LDS myth, I’m not sure, but I heard a few years ago that Las Vegas would have another temple, if people would go to the one we have more.
I think it shows how dedicated the Saints in Arizona are to Temple work.

I’ve never heard that Las Vegas would get another Temple. Currently, the Las Vegas Nevada Temple is not being used to full capacity. If and when the Saints (myself included) use the Temple to its full capacity and its gets over used, then, I believe that Las Vegas metro area could get another Temple. However, I don’t see another Temple coming to Las Vegas for a very long time, if ever.
