My friend Denise, on her blog recently, said “Has anyone considered the possibility of [US Senator Harry] Reid running for Pres[ident]?”
I replied, (with on minor change) the following:
How about for 2008? It could be Romney verses Reid. Reid will accuse Romney of not following his faith by not being charitable to the poor. Romney will accuse Reid of not following his faith by supporting gay-marriage and abortion and by not helping the poor get out of poverty. Reid will hold a press conference and tell everyone that his opponent belongs to some brain-washing cult. Someone will say “Senator Reid, do you go to the same Church that he does?” Reid will response and say “But I’m a Democrat”. The media will run that story about how Democrat Mormons are the ones who are actually following the teachings of Jesus Christ, and how the Republican Mormons are these evil Cult members. The line “But I’m a Democrat” will become the most memorable line from the 2008 elections and, after Romney wins, Reid will call him a loser and other things that will, once again, embarrass the people of the State of Nevada.
