Who do you love?

October 05th, 2008 | Category: Family, Humor, Mikey

Last night, I was talking to Mikey before we read scriptures.  I said “Mikey who do I love?  Do I love M-I-K-E-Y C-O-X?”  Mikey said “Yes.”  Then I asked him, “Mikey, who do you love?”  He said “I love M-O-M-M-Y.”  “Who else do you love?”  “I love J-O-S-H?”.  “Who else do you love?”  Mikey’s response was “Ummm…. how do you spell Tinkerbell?”

(Tinkerbell is Aunt Michelle’s dog)

Will Josh be smart?

September 22nd, 2008 | Category: Family, Humor, Josh, Mikey

Amanda & I were commenting about how smart Mikey is during dinner.  I asked Amanda if she thought Josh would be as smart as Mikey or smarter.  Mikey then said what sounded like “Dumb”.  Amanda & I looked at each other and started laughing.  What Mikey actually said is “Yum”.  His dinner was good, but he said it at just the right moment… :)

Changing Batteries

July 30th, 2008 | Category: Family, Mikey

Mikey likes to play with flashlights.  As a result, most of our flashlights have dead batteries.  Tonight, I changed the AA batteries in one flashlight, so he could play with it.  About an hour later, he wanted to type on my laptop.  We didn’t have the charger with us in the room we were in and, after a little while, the laptop battery died.  I told Mikey that the battery was dead and that I would have to go plug it in.  He disappeared and, a few minutes later, handed me a pack of AA batteries!

Mikey’s b-a-t-h

July 30th, 2008 | Category: Family, Mikey

Last night, I went to give my 2 1/2 year old Mikey a bath before bed.  I said to him.  “Bath-time Mikey!  Let’s go take a b-a-t-h.  Do you know what that spells?”  And he said “Bath!”.  Neither the Wife nor I have ever told Mikey how to spell bath.  We were quite amazed!

I’ve talked before about how Mikey likes to type on our computers in Notepad.  He now types M-I-K-E-Y  everytime he typing on the computer, along with just random characters.

He’s also decided that he is, in fact S-M-A-R-T, although I don’t think he quite knows what that is yet.

M-I-K-E-Y loves Daddy

July 22nd, 2008 | Category: Family, Mikey

When I got home from work tonight, I said to Mikey “D-A-D-D-Y loves Mikey.”  Mikey looked at me and said “No, M-I-K-E-Y loves Daddy.”  How did my 2 1/2 year old get to be so smart?

Work more or play more?

June 29th, 2008 | Category: Family, Mikey

We were at the store yesterday (Saturday, 29 June 08) and we were getting Mikey a toy that, with a coupon we had, was going to make the toy free.  There was another toy right next to it that Mikey wanted.  It was $50.00 or so.  He asked me if we could get it.  I told him something along the lines of “Mikey, we don’t have enough money to buy that right now.  If you want us to get it, Daddy is going have to work more.  Do you want Daddy to work more or do you want Daddy to stay home more and play with you?”  Mikey thought about it for a second and then said “Stay home and play with me.”

Mikey’s dreams

May 26th, 2008 | Category: Family, Humor, Mikey

The Wife and boys are out of town for a week, however, I still wanted to post this Mikey story.

Every morning, when I go and get him from bed, he and I always sit down in a chair in his room and I give him hugs for a few minutes.  I ask him “How did you sleep?” to which he responses “Good”.  I would ask him if he had any dreams.  He would normally say yes, so I would follow it up with “What did you dream about?”.  Sometime last week, I was rocking with him and I asked him how he slept.  I didn’t ask him if he had any dreams.  He interrupted me all of a sudden and said “I had a dream last night.”.  I asked him “What did you dream about?”.  His answer; “Shoes”!  The next day, he had a dream about birds.  He has also had dreams about books, God, and horses.  It makes me smile.

We have a Last name

May 12th, 2008 | Category: Family, Mikey

Yesterday, Mikey said something that sounded like “Daddy Cox”.  Being impressed that Mikey has figured out that we have a last name, I proceeded to say “Daddy Cox, Mommy Cox, Mikey Cox, and Josh Cox.”  Mikey repeated each of those back to me.  After he finished, you could see the wheels in his head turning as he was thinking.  He then announced, with a huge grin, “Baby Bear Cox”.  It made Amanda & I smile.

Who’s Boy Are you?

May 07th, 2008 | Category: Family, Humor, Mikey

A reoccuring game that Mikey & I play is I ask him “Who’s Boy Are You?”.  His answers vary greatly, but is usally either Daddy or Mommy.  I’ve started asking him “Are you D-A-D-D-Y’s boy?”.  This morning, his answered surprised me.  “No, B-A-B-Y J-O-S-H’s boy.”.  This evening, when I asked him “Are you D-A-D-D-Y’s boy?”, he answered, “No, M-O-M-M-Y’s boy!”.

I can’t believe how smart my kid is.
