Last night, Mommy and Mikey were playing on the piano.  Mommy turned to a page in The Childrens Songbook.  She asked Mikey is he knew what song it was.  He said “I Am a Child of God”, which is correct. We asked him how he knew it.  “Did you read it” Mommy asked.  He said “Yes.  See there is an ‘o-f” there.  That says of.

Monday night, Mikey and I were driving.  We went first to the Post Office.  When we got back in the car and I was buckling him in, he told me “Daddy, I see ‘of’.  See, ‘O-F’”.  I looked where he was pointing and it was the Post Office sign, and, sure enough, there is an “O-F” in Office.  I told him “Yeah, O-F does spell of.  It also has an F-I-C-E.  When you put that all together ‘O-F-F-I-C-E’, you know what that spells Mikey?”  “What?”  “Office”.  “Oh, and if you put “P-O-S-T” in front of that, you know what that spells Daddy?  Post Office.”

Later, we were driving by a Walgreens.  As you may know, the Walgreens logo is in red.  Mikey told me “Daddy, there’s Walgreens.  But the letters are all in red.  Maybe they should be ‘Walreds’.”

Mikey has thrown up several times over the last couple days.  Not something he normally does.  Well tonight, as he was about to go to bed, he was saying his prayers, which went something like this:

“Dear Heavenly Father, please bless that we can have a good night sleep and that we can get up in the morning, and that I won’t throw up.   In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.”

I thought it was very sweet and cute.

Mikey and Josh are just about over their colds, but we decided that we were going to keep them home from Church one more Sunday, just to make sure.  Trying to be a good Daddy & Husband, I told SWMBO that I would stay home with the boys and she could go to Church.  This morning, SWMBO announced that we should all stay home from Church (she was tired).  I waited about 2-minutes and then told her that if she was going to stay home, I’d go to Church and she could stay home with the boys.  She very quickly said she would go to Church.  So, the best way to motivate Wife to go to Church is to tell her she would have to stay home with the boys… interesting.

10. My neighbors have a TWO year supply! No, they don’t. They don’t have any food. Did you know that 85% of the members of the church don’t have any food storage at all? If your idea of food storage is to eat someone else’s food………..this is a really bad plan.

9. I’ve paid tithing for 20 years…the church can give me a little food. Many members believe that when the times get hard, the church is going to come through like Joseph in Egypt. Absolutely not true. All the church storehouses and welfare farms across the country would only feed 4% of the members of the church. The church has been asking YOU to store food for 75 years. They’re NOT storing food for you. Thus, another bad plan.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.  As we all sit down and celebrate our blessings this year, I wanted to take a second and express some of the things that I am grateful for.

I am grateful for my family.  I don’t know what I’d do without them.  Amanda is the rock that keeps our family running smoothly.  She is (usually) so happy and sweet and forgiving of her 3 boys when we do something wrong.  She is the pretty girl I know and I’m happy that we have the opportunity to be together forever.  I’m so happy that she is willing to put up with me forever and I hope that I am worthy of her forever.

Mikey is my little namesake.  I am continually amazed at how smart he is.  I have no idea where he gets all of his knowledge from.  He’s almost 3 and fills each day of ours with happiness and love.  He tries really hard to be a good boy and a big helper.  And he normally is.

Josh is my little buddy.  At 8-months old, it is fun to watch him look around the room with wonder.  Everything is so new and exciting.  He also gives Daddy wonderful smiles.

My parents are so willing to help us with whatever we may need.  They love their grandchildren so much.

My siblings love my boys so much.  They go out of their way to let their kids play with my kids and to see us.

My in-laws are wonderful.  You hear all these Mother-in-Law jokes from people, but those people have never meet my mother-in-law.

Who would believe that 9-years after high school graduation my high school circle of friends still meets together about once a month for dinner and games?  They sometimes drive me crazy but I can’t imagine not seeing them or talking to them.

I’m so grateful for Jesus Christ, my Lord and my Savior.  Without His atoning sacrifice, nothing else would matter.  I strive each day to become more and more like Him so that one day when “he shall appear, [I] shall be like him” (1 John 3:2).  I’m grateful that in these last days, He has a prophet on the Earth, even Thomas S. Monson.  I strive to always follow the Lord and His servants for, as He taught, “whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same” (Doctrine and Covenants 1:38).

I’m grateful to live in America.  She has her problems (most of which are Government induced) but she is still a wonderful land.  What other country has a Constitution inspired by God?  I didn’t support President-Elect Obama, but I wish him the best.  I hope he follows our Constitution and is a great president.  If he does, I’ll support him.  If (when) he doesn’t, I’ll oppose him.  I’m grateful that I have the freedom to do those things.

I’m thankful for so many other things that there just isn’t time for in this blog entry.

What are you guys thankful for?

Today, Mikey typed every word that he knows how to spell on my computer.  I then counted; Mikey Cox, who will be 3 in January, can spell 8 words!

All of these words were typed by Mikey on Notepad on my laptop.  I then copied and pasted them into this blog entry:

BIBLE
MOMMY
DADDY
JOSH
MIKEY
COX

Maria tagged me for this game where you have to list 6 quirks about yourself.

4 of these are true and 2 are made up.

How well do you really know me?  Do you know which ones are made up? Who knows all the crazy things about me?

1. When I was in high school, I had a really bad poem published in a book of poetry.

2. Growing up, I wanted to be a police officer.

3. Someday, I’d like to move to the midwest and have life slowdown.

4. Growing up, I would talk in my sleep.  In fact, I have argued in my sleep with other family members who were also asleep in the same room I was in.

5. I once meet the entire cast of Star Trek: Voyager at the now closed Star Trek: The Experience.

6. I enjoy watching Saturday morning cartoons with Mikey; in fact, I think I like them more than he does!

Well there you go! Which ones are true?

I tag: Denise, Kinsly, and Anthony
