Ron Paul for President

I have official endorsed Congressman Ron Paul for President in 2012.  My endorsement, which follows, has been released as part of a press release by the Ron Paul Presidential Campaign Committee:

“Congressman Ron Paul is the only candidate for President whose record matches his rhetoric.  As the only GOP candidate for President on the ballot in all 50 states he has always been pro-life both in his words and his actions as Congressman.  He is also the only candidate that follows the enumerated powers of our Divinely-inspired Constitution.  Hyrum Smith once said, ‘To vote for a wicked man, it would be sin.’  A wicked man would ignore what God has inspired.”

Free Ham Radio Class 2012

In 2009, I helped organize a free ham radio class in my then LDS Stake (the North Las Vegas Nevada Stake).  I got my tech and general license after taking this course and have tried to stay actively involved ever since.  I am in the process of organizing on in April/May 2012 for my current LDS Stake (the Las Vegas Nevada Redrock Stake).  We are thinking it will be held Thursday night at about 6:30 pm.  If anyone is interested, comment below or contact me.

Mikey's Testimony

Last week, my 5 1/2 year old Mikey decided that he wanted to go bear his testimony at Church the next time he could.  Remembering the council given regarding this, I did not encourage it, although I didn’t tell him he couldn’t either.  Sunday came and we were at Church.  I was in the hallway with Hannah, who was tired and cranky.  Amanda came out to tell me that Mikey was going to bear his testimony.  I came back into the Chapel and saw Mikey on the 2nd step to go up to the puplit.  He looked around and wasn’t sure what to do and then turned around and saw me.  He walked back down to see me.  We sat down and he told me that he wanted to go bear his testimony.  He then asked me if he was allowed to.  I told him that the Church has told us that little kids should bear their testimony in Primary and in the home.  I then asked him if he still wanted to.  He did.  He proceeded to tell me that he wanted me to come up with him, but not to say anything.  He and I walked to the very front pew and saw there for a minute until the person speaking finished their testimony.  Mikey then walked up to the stage and sat down by himself.  He wanted until it was his turn and then walked to the pulpit.  He spoke very clearly and loud enough for everyone to hear him, but he didn’t scream into the microphone.  He said “Hi, my name is Mikey and I know this Church is true and I love my family.  In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.”

As I sat and listen to him, I thought of the scripture Luke 19:39-40:

“And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.
And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.”

Honoring Elder Walker

Elder Jermaine Luther Walker, a Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, had been serving in Kingston, Jamaica, which is also his home town.  He has been released from his mortal mission early and returning home to that God who gave him life.  He was a valiant solider in the battle of souls.  He will be missed by his family and friends.

My Testimony

I’d like to take a moment now at the beginning of the year to share with you my testimony of Jesus Christ.

I know that God lives.  He loves me and He loves you.  He loves us so much that He sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ to earth.  He came not because He had to, but because He wanted to.  Christ wanted to come, to save us from our sins.  Because of the atonement of Jesus Christ, I can be forgiven of my sins.  All I have to do is ask Him.  He does require us to do as He says, but He also knows that we will mess up.  As long as I keep trying, He will forgive me and allow me back into His presence.  I know that because of His atonement, all mankind will be resurrected.   I am among the weakest of His servants, but I so proud that He has trusted me enough to allow me to hold  His priesthood, so that I can be His servant and exercise His priesthood power.  I am so lucky to have such a wonderful and beautiful wife.  By following the Lord’s commandments, I know that I will be able to be with my dear Amanda for all eternity.  I am so happy, yet humbled that He intrusted me with my 3 beautiful children, for before they were my children, they were God’s and I know that He has not given up His parenteral rights to them.  I strive everyday to be a father worthy of these children and to strive to live up to His example.

These things I write in the Holy Name of He who saves all mankind, Jesus Christ, Amen.

Come Quickly

I’ve been having some pretty late nights working on a house the last couple of days.  A few nights ago, I was listening to Coast to Coast AM.  The guest said something about hopefully the Savior comes soon.  The Host, George Noory, said something to the effect of “If He is there, I hope He comes soon”.  I though “Come Quickly Lord Jesus, I’ll always be watching”.  The spirit came over me very strongly, perhaps stronger than I have felt it in sometime.  In my soul I felt the Lord saying “I come quickly.  Prepare ye the way of the Lord.”  I was left not knowing if quickly was 2 minutes, 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months, 2 years, 2 decades, or even 2 millennium.  But I was left with the renewed knowledge that I know that He is coming.  Ultimately, the most important thing in this life is to prepare ourselves and those around us for His ultimate return.

That war [American Civil War]…was nothing, compared to that which will eventually devastate that country. The time is not very far distant in the future, when the Lord God will lay his hand heavily upon that nation. “How do you know this? inquires one.” I know from the revelations which God has given upon this subject. I read these revelations, when they were first given…What then will be the condition of that people, when this great and terrible war shall come? It will be very different from the war between the North and the South,…It will be a war of neighborhood against neighborhood, city against city, town against town, county against county, state against state, and they will go forth destroying and being destroyed and manufacturing will, in a great measure, cease, for a time, among the American nation. Why? Because in these terrible wars, they will not be privileged to manufacture, there will be too much blood-shed—too much mobocracy—too much going forth in bands and destroying and pillaging the land to suffer people to pursue any local vocation with any degree of safety. What will become of millions of the farmers upon that land? They will leave their farms and they will remain uncultivated, and they will flee before the ravaging armies from place to place; and thus will they go forth burning and pillaging the whole country… A time is coming when the great and populous city of New York—the greatest city of the American Republic, will be left without inhabitants. The houses will stand, some of them, not all. They will stand there, but unoccupied, no people to inherit them. It will be the same in regard to numerous other cities, or, in the words of the Lord, “I will throw down all their strongholds, and I will execute vengeance and fury upon them, even as upon the heathen, such as they have not heard.” It will all be fulfilled… the heathen will be spared longer than these Gentile nations who have had the scriptures in their midst, but would not obey them
