July Front Sight Membership Giveaway Winners

This morning, I typed the name of all the entries in my Front Sight Membership Giveaway contest.  As I had three ways to enter, my total entries were 31.  Several people had multiple entries, with one person having four entries.  I put all the entries in a small basket.  My kids enjoyed last time when I let Hannah, my youngest, pick the winner.  However, Mikey & Josh wanted to pick a name also.  So, this time, I let all three kids pick a winner, from youngest to oldest.

Hannah, my 3-year old went first:

Josh, my 5-year old then went:

Mikey, my 7-year old was third.

What do they call you?

My 5-year old son Josh recently finished preschool.  He will be starting Kindergarten in August at Discovery Charter School, where 7-year old Mikey recently finished 1st grade.  The school is holding a 3-week summer school session where the kids can go to school for 4-hours a day, 4-days a week.  Returning students were invited to attend.  The school invited Josh to attend also.  Tonight as I was putting him in bed, I said to him:

“I wonder what the school calls you.  You’ve finished Preschool but you haven’t started Kindergarten yet.”

Without missing a beat, he said “I think they call me Josh.”

I sure love this kid. 🙂

Joshisms

Josh, my fun 3-year old has had some pretty funny statements recently and wanted to make sure that I have them recorded.

He gave Amanda a Mother’s Day Card and “wrote” in it. He very proudly wanted Mommy to know what it said “I Love Daddy”! 🙂

We went to Macayo’s a month or so ago. On the way, I asked the kids if they were excited to go eat there, to which they said yes. I asked Josh what his favorite thing at Macayo’s was. He replied “The Food.” 🙂

Man, I love this kid!

My Testimony

I’d like to take a moment now at the beginning of the year to share with you my testimony of Jesus Christ.

I know that God lives.  He loves me and He loves you.  He loves us so much that He sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ to earth.  He came not because He had to, but because He wanted to.  Christ wanted to come, to save us from our sins.  Because of the atonement of Jesus Christ, I can be forgiven of my sins.  All I have to do is ask Him.  He does require us to do as He says, but He also knows that we will mess up.  As long as I keep trying, He will forgive me and allow me back into His presence.  I know that because of His atonement, all mankind will be resurrected.   I am among the weakest of His servants, but I so proud that He has trusted me enough to allow me to hold  His priesthood, so that I can be His servant and exercise His priesthood power.  I am so lucky to have such a wonderful and beautiful wife.  By following the Lord’s commandments, I know that I will be able to be with my dear Amanda for all eternity.  I am so happy, yet humbled that He intrusted me with my 3 beautiful children, for before they were my children, they were God’s and I know that He has not given up His parenteral rights to them.  I strive everyday to be a father worthy of these children and to strive to live up to His example.

These things I write in the Holy Name of He who saves all mankind, Jesus Christ, Amen.

"That's my name"

Josh loves to spell his name.  J-O-S-H.  Recently, he has started looking at paper that has lots of letters and words on it.  As he looks at it, he looks for the letters in his name.  So, in the middle of the first line, for example is a J, with an O and the next line, and S 2 paragraphs later, and an H right at the end.  He will see these and say “That’s my name.  See?  J-O-S-H.”

My Big 2 1/2 Year Old

Josh is my big 2 1/2 year old.  He’ll be 3 in March.  He loves Geotrax Trains.  Every night when I put him in bed, I ask him “What do you think you’ll dream about tonight?”  Without fail, he always tells me “Team Geotrax – Working Together to Make GeoTown Better.  All Aboard!” which is the theme song that Fisher-Price put together for the Geotrax cartoon episodes.

Josh can be more challenging than Mikey, my almost 5-year old, but he is still a fun kid and I love him so much.

Christmas Letter 2009

Dear Friends & Family;

Well 2009 has been a fun year.  Sometimes we wonder if life will ever slow down!  We got our Ham radio licenses this year and Michael, at least, is enjoying talking to people on the air.

Mikey is finally potty trained and is learning to put letters together to make words.   He loves Geotrax trains, Thomas the Tank Engine, the movie Cars, and any cartoon on TV.  Mikey will be turning 4 in January and is excited to be a Sunbeam at Church.

Josh is slowly starting to talk and loves to do whatever his big brother is doing.  He is becoming Mr. Independent and doesn’t want anyone’s help in doing things.  He will be turning 2 in March.

Michael has finally earned an Associate’s degree and is still working hard at fixing computers.  In February, he started working as the Director of Information Technologies for an INC 500 company here in Las Vegas.  He still manages his computer repair business, Las Vegas Geeks, as well so he stays busy.

Amanda was released from the Relief Society Presidency this past year and has been in Nursery ever since.  A few months later, Mike was called to teach in Nursery as well so it’s a great team.  She is a wonderful Mother and Wife.  She loves couponing and we are all impressed by her savings.

Love,

Michael, Amanda, Mikey, and Josh Cox
