Back to School Family Home Evening

Tomorrow Mikey starts 7th grade, Josh 5th, and Hannah 3rd. In one week Lizzy will start Kindergarten. Amanda and I decided to hold a short family home evening. Josh read 1st Samuel 16:7. We talked about how the Prophet Samuel was looking for the next King and how he learned that’s the Lord doesn’t care about how we look on the outside but the inside. We likened this to how there will be all sorts of different kids at school and we should not judge them based on how they look or what they wear but instead try to see them how God sees them and love them as God loves them. We then had Hannah read Matthew 11:28-30. We discussed how Christ took upon Him all of our heartache and pain, our sorrow and our stress, as well as our sins during the atonement and that we can put all of this on Him and accept in return His yoke, His burden, which is to love each other and follow His commandments.

We finished Family Home Evening with each kid getting a Father’s Blessing.

Where does the time go?

Its July 22, 2018. Let that sink in for a minute. 20-years ago it was just a few weeks before my senior year of high school. 14-years ago, my wife and I had been married just a few months. 10-years ago we were in the beginnings of what is now called “The Great Recession”. 5-years ago, our youngest child, Lizzy, was just about ready to be born. 1-year ago, my family moved to Southern Utah (I stayed in Southern Nevada for a few more months for work).

I need to be better at valuing each day because that day will never happen again.

July Front Sight Membership Giveaway Winners

This morning, I typed the name of all the entries in my Front Sight Membership Giveaway contest.  As I had three ways to enter, my total entries were 31.  Several people had multiple entries, with one person having four entries.  I put all the entries in a small basket.  My kids enjoyed last time when I let Hannah, my youngest, pick the winner.  However, Mikey & Josh wanted to pick a name also.  So, this time, I let all three kids pick a winner, from youngest to oldest.

Hannah, my 3-year old went first:

Josh, my 5-year old then went:

My Testimony

I’d like to take a moment now at the beginning of the year to share with you my testimony of Jesus Christ.

I know that God lives.  He loves me and He loves you.  He loves us so much that He sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ to earth.  He came not because He had to, but because He wanted to.  Christ wanted to come, to save us from our sins.  Because of the atonement of Jesus Christ, I can be forgiven of my sins.  All I have to do is ask Him.  He does require us to do as He says, but He also knows that we will mess up.  As long as I keep trying, He will forgive me and allow me back into His presence.  I know that because of His atonement, all mankind will be resurrected.   I am among the weakest of His servants, but I so proud that He has trusted me enough to allow me to hold  His priesthood, so that I can be His servant and exercise His priesthood power.  I am so lucky to have such a wonderful and beautiful wife.  By following the Lord’s commandments, I know that I will be able to be with my dear Amanda for all eternity.  I am so happy, yet humbled that He intrusted me with my 3 beautiful children, for before they were my children, they were God’s and I know that He has not given up His parenteral rights to them.  I strive everyday to be a father worthy of these children and to strive to live up to His example.

These things I write in the Holy Name of He who saves all mankind, Jesus Christ, Amen.

My little Princess

My little Princess Hannah is 6-months old now.  How time does fly.  She has a hard time sleeping through the night but she has the cutest smile, making it all worth it (especially when My Lovetakes care of her most nights!)  I think she is trying to say Daddy, but, at this point, she is definitely Mommy’s Girl.  Amanda doesn’t mind. 🙂

The best present - Hannah!

New Kid, New House, New Host

A lot has happened since I last blogged.

I now have a daughter, Hannah!  She is just about 3-weeks ago.  The Wife did a nice post called “Here’s Hannah“.

We moved about a week ago from one side of town to another side.

If all that isn’t enough, I just moved my blog from an old self-hosted server to a new web host.  There have been a few problems, but I hope to work though it all soon.  Please be patient.  If I don’t get it working as fast as you’d like, please see the other two items I posted on…
