When you become a little kid again…

Mikey and I were talking this morning. He asked me “When you become a little child again, will you” do something or another (I forget now what it was). I asked him if he thought I’d become a little child again. “Yes Daddy, when you get to the end of the numbers.”. I asked him what the end of the numbers are. “When you reach 100, that is the end of the numbers and you become a little child again.”

I passed my Ham Radio License!

I’ve been interested in ham radio/amateur radio for a while now.  Well, today, my dear, sweet wife, myself, and 4 other people from our Ward went and took the ham radio license exam.  All 6 of us were not currently licensed ham radio operators.  Currently the FCC offers 3 ham radio license classes; Technician, General, and Extra.  All 6 of us passed the first test (the technician), 2 of us (including myself) passed the general test, and 1 passed all 3 today.  We could miss 9 questions on the 35-question test for both Technician and General.  Both Amanda and I missed 3-questions on the Technician and I missed 9 on the general.  One might say I got a perfect score on the general! 🙂

Our Ward had no ham radio operators in it before today.  It now has 1 Extra, 1 General, and 4 Technicians!  We do have to wait until our name appears in the FCC’s ULS database, which should be about Thursday.  I’m excited.  We’re talking about setting up a Ham Radio Club (since we need 4-members, and we have 6).  Maybe North Las Vegas LDS Hams?  Or North Las Vegas Mormon Hams?  Latter-day Hams?

1st Presidency letter to the US Treasury

…the Church has not found it possible to follow along the lines of the present general tendency in the matter of property rights, taxes, the curtailment of rights and liberties of the people, nor in general the economic policies of what is termed the “New Deal”….unless the people of America forsake the sins and the errors, political and otherwise, of which they are now guilty and return to the practice of the great fundamental principles of Christianity, and of Constitutional government, there will be no exaltation for them spiritually, and politically we shall lose our liberty and free institutions….We believe that our real threat comes from within and not from without, and it comes from the underlying spirit common to Naziism, Fascism, and Communism, namely the spirit which would array class against class, which would set up a socialistic state of some sort, which would rob the people of the liberties which we possess under the Constitution, and would set up such a reign of terror as exists now in many parts of Europe….We confess to you that it has not been possible for us to unify our own people even upon the necessity of such a turning about, and therefore we cannot unfortunately, and we say it regretfully, make any practical suggestion to you as to how the nation can be turned about.

Joel Chapter 2 – Sun shall be darkened

“The words of the prophets are rapidly being fulfilled, but it is done on such natural principles that most of us fail to see it. Joel promised that the Lord would pour out his spirit upon all flesh: the sons and daughters should prophesy, old men should dream dreams, and young men should see visions. Wonders in heaven and in the earth would be seen, and there would be fire, blood, and pillars of smoke. Eventually the sun is to be turned into darkness and the moon as blood and then shall come the great and dreadful day of the Lord. Some of these signs have been given; some are yet to come. The sun has not yet been darkened.  We are informed that this will be one of the last acts just preceding the coming of the Lord.”

April 1966 General Conference, President Joseph Fielding Smith, Counselor in the First Presidency and President of the Council of the Twelve Apostles (emphasis added)

The vision of Joel has been fulfilled wherein he declared:
‘And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the Lord come. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call’ (Joel 2:28–32).”
