Where Have All the Conservatives Gone?

With Mitt Romney today suspending his campaign to be the Republican nominee for the White House, I was left to think about Paul Shaklin’s song Where Have All the Conservatives Gone? It is interesting to note that Romney did not drop out, he suspended his campaign. That means that he still controls his pledged delegates, but not his unpledged delegates. He’ll, I assume, use his delegates to brokerage some sort of position in a McCain White House, or possibly even VP. Wouldn’t Huckabee hate that!

Super Tuesday Results

I didn’t post my prediction for Super Tuesday but since I was pretty accurate, I figured I’d go ahead a post my prediction:

John McCain will win most of the contests today.  He will be in the lead, but not an insurmountable lead.  It will be enough of a lead that the media will crown him the winner, even though he doesn’t have enough delegates to win.  The post Super-Tuesday states will go to the Mitt Romney camp and he (Romney) will end up being the nominee.

So far, it looks like I was right on the Super-Tuesday contests and the media’s reaction.  Hopefully, I’m right on the post Super-Tuesday contests.

I’ll post some analysis of Super Tuesday tomorrow when all the results have come in.

Thomas S. Monson has been called as the new President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  As President, members of The Church believe that President Monson has been called of God as a Prophet, Seer, and Revelator, not just for the Church, but for the whole world.  To assist President Monson in this duty, he has two councilors, President Henry B. Eyring, and President Dieter F. Uchtdorf.  Together, they make up the Quorum of the 1st Presidency.

Remembering Glenna

My Grandma (my Mother’s mother) died last night.  Mikey, the Wife, my mom, and I went to see her last night as we all knew she would be dying.  She has been very unresponsive recently to everyone.  I knew, however, that she would respond when I was there.   We took flowers to her.  I put one up to her nose and asked her how they smelled.  All without opening her eyes she told me that the flowers were beautiful.  I told her “just like you”, to which she gave her usual scoff whenever anyone tries to give her a compliment.  I put lotion on her hands and rubbed them for a little while.  She fell asleep (as she had just been given medicine).  We left a little while later.  I told Amanda that Grandma would die either that night or early the next morning.  At about 2:30 this morning, we get called to be told that Grandma had died.  It was sometime between 11:00 pm and 1:00 am MST.  I’m glad that she is out of pain now and that she is reunited with her husband, my Grandfather, who died 18 years ago.  I know that I will see her again.  This separation is only temporary.

The director of the funeral home told my mom that perhaps President Hinckley was there to meet my Grandmother.

Maine GOP Caucus

The overlooked Maine GOP caucus is going on this weekend, with caucus locations on Friday, Feb 1, Saturday, Feb 2, and Sunday, Feb 3.  Currently, 68% of the precints are reporting, with 52% of the voters going to Mitt Romney.  In 2nd place, John McCain has 21%.  It has been called for Mitt Romney, but since there are caucuses tomorrow, there are not yet estimates on how many of the 18 delegates available that are going to each candidate.  I’ll post another entry tomorrow that will give the number of delegates awarded and the currently standing.
