Toyota Prius

Last Thursday, the Wife & I became the proud owners of a 2006 Toyota Prius Hybrid. Currently our average Miles Per Gallon is at 41.9. A far cry from the EPA estimates of 60, but it keeps rising. I don’t think I’ll ever get it to 60, but as long as I’m in the 50s, I think I’ll be happy.

I’ve been looking at the Prius for several years. I think my first test drive of them was in 2002 or 2003, after I got home from my mission. The Prius was launched in Japan for model year 1997 and in the US for model year 2001.

X-Men: The Last Stand

So, I went and saw X-Men: The Last Stand (aka X-Men 3) Friday night (opening night). Shortly before I left home, I read online *after* the closing credits there is a short but significant scene. I am sooooo glad that I waited to see the last scene. I would have been a little upset to have heard about it later.

Mother's Day

Today was the fist Mother’s Day that the Wife & I had a kid. I kept telling her (the Wife) that she wasn’t my mother and so I wasn’t going to get her anything. Of course, I didn’t really mean it. I got her some scrapbook crap that she wanted. She seemed happy. That, of course, made me happy.

Marriage Protection Amendment

Today, I visited the Religious Coalition for Marriagewebsite and sent an e-mail to both Nevada Senators about Senate Joint Resolution 1, the Marriage Protection Amendment. This amendment would add the following as an amendment to the US Constitution: “Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the constitution of any State, shall be construed to require that marriage or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon any union other than the union of a man and a woman.” I am in favor of this.

Our country is in the middle of a war. This war is over morals. This was is about what is right and wrong.

Veronica Mars "Not Pictures"

Last night was the season finale of Veronica Mars (hopefully not the series finale). I must say it was great. I read the spoilers and speculation too much and so already knew who the person who crashed the bus was. But it was still really good. My wife thought it was morbid. But after the show was over, she was talking about how much she likes this show and how she should e-mail her friends to get them to write to the CW and ask them to renew the show.

I think that there was an interesting line in it last night. A character named Clarence Weidman (who hasn’t been on the show since November) killed someone on the episode. He calls to tell someone about it. “CW?” “It’s a done deal”. Is that creator Rob Thomas’s way of telling us that the Veronica Mars on the CW is a done deal?

7th Heaven Wrap Up

Well, the wife and I watched the last episode of 7th Heaven Monday night. It was good. I really liked it… until about the last 2 minutes of the episode. If you haven’t watched it yet, I will be talking about it and you may want to stop reading now.

So, Simon and Rose didn’t get married. Rose & Simon are dancing, then Rose and her father, then Rose and her ex-boyfriend. All of a sudden, Sandy (who we haven’t seen since her baby was born) walks in. Simon goes over to see her and says that he’s glad she came. She says “Simon, there’s something I need to tell you”. And then the episode ends. That really bothered me. There has been hints all season long that Martin may not be the father of Sandy’s baby, but that Simon actually was. Oh well, since there is the possibility that it may be back next season, they wanted to have something for us to explore.
