My Little Boy

I have a really cute little boy. I’m so lucky to have him. He is sleeping really well through the night. That is nice for the Wife and I as we can both get some sleep. Since the Wife can’t walk up the stairs yet, she’s been sleeping downstairs and I’ve been sleeping upstairs. I’ve been taking Mikey upstairs for the beginning of the night and the Wife keeps him the last part of the night. Mikey & DaddyMikey & Daddy

Outlook Fatal Error

I was working on Outlook 2003 today. I could get the e-mail addresses into it, but once I wrote and e-mail, I couldn’t get it to select an account to send from (they only had one), and there was no Send/Receive button. If I tried to manually select which account to send from, I got an error message “Unable to complete this operation. A fatal error has occured in Outlook.” After running a “Detect and Repair” under the Help menu, the problem went away. I had to recreate the e-mail account and a new personal folder was created. I could, however, open up the old personal folder and everything worked well.

Sunrise Hospital Staff

Yesterday, I complained about having to wait for a room. I felt I was a little hard on the dedicated staff at Sunrise. They have been great. Our excellent staff has included L&D Nurses Haydee and June, the baby’s L&D Nurse Janice, the Nursery Nurse Penny, and all the other staff who’s name I have forgotten, but who’s help will forever fill our hearts and memories. The Wife and I are indebted to them.

The Delivery

Well, it’s been a long 12 hours since my last update. The Wife had dilated up to about an 8 cm. She then went down to a 7 cm. She wasn’t progressing and about 1:00 am the Nursing Staff decided that the Wife would probably have to deliver by a C-Section. The Doctor was called who signed off on it and we went into the Operating Room (the OR). I don’t think it was the C-Section, but I got really sick to my stomach. I had to go into the hallway after the baby was born and lay down. The staff got worried about me a little bit and gave me some orange juice. The baby was born at 2:54 am. He weighed 8 pounds and 8 ounces! A big ol’boy. The Wife, the Baby, and I got into our room at about 6:30 am. I’m a Daddy. I can’t believe it.

Labor: 10:33 PM update

The Wife has finally fallen asleep. I hope she gets some rest before the hard part of the whole pushing thing starts. She is so much nicer after she got the epidural. I’ve probably been over sensitive, however. She was probably a little mean but since I’m scared and worried, my mind blew it out of proportion. I’ve never been a Daddy before. I’m going to be one for the rest of my life. She is now dilated to 6 cm.

Labor: 6:32 PM update

I can’t believe how helpless I feel. I wish there was something I could do for my wife; something I could do for my unborn baby. But I can’t. There are all these machines up and I can kinda understand what they are there for and what they are doing… but that’s all. I don’t like this feeling of helplessness.
